ABOUT US
SHONA - CO-OWNER
I was introduced to Reformer Pilates around eight years ago while living in London. It quickly became one of my favourite ways to move and has been a staple in my life ever since. I loved the dynamic pace of the classes, and before long I began to feel the benefits not just day-to-day, but across every other form of exercise I enjoyed.
After twelve years in London, my family and I returned to our hometown of Broughty Ferry — and the one thing I knew I’d truly miss was my Reformer Pilates practice. So, rather than let that happen, I decided to dive deeper and complete extensive training. I qualified in Mat Pilates and Dynamic Reformer Pilates, and have since expanded my education with training in pre/postnatal Pilates, advanced reformer, jump board and injuries & pathologies.
My approach is fun, challenging, and grounded in years of training — bringing together elements of my diverse education to create a teaching style that’s true to how I love to move.
I’m so proud to have opened The Reformer Studio in Broughty Ferry, Perth, and Newport — creating spaces that serve our local communities and support not only fitness, but holistic wellbeing. A wellness space for every body, and a practice that fits every lifestyle.
LYNSEY - CO-OWNER
I have lived in Broughty Ferry all of my life and I am very excited to be opening up ‘The Reformer Studio’ on my doorstep. Fitness and exercise have been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve decided now is my time to focus on my health and wellbeing. I enjoy feeling strong, looking healthy and being mentally present in my life.
Running and weight training along with Reformer Pilates are my favourite forms of exercise. Last year I tried Reformer Pilates for the first time and instantly fell in love with it. It allows me to feel strong and relaxed while enhancing flexibility and mobility. I recently turned my love for Reformer Pilates into a passion and completed training to become a Mat and Reformer Pilates instructor.
My motivation is to empower others to focus on their health and stay as active as possible. Reformer Pilates enhances all other sport and exercise and allows time for you to check in with your body.
I am excited to welcome everyone into The Reformer Studio, it is set to be a beautiful, tranquil space.
OUR MANAGERS
NICOLA - BROUGHTY FERRY
I started my career studying dance before moving to Scandinavia, where I taught classes and fell in love with the culture of health and movement. This inspired my journey into Pilates and personal training.
From there, I moved to Belfast, where I spent 13 years running my own successful fitness and Pilates studio and became an award-winning personal trainer. I led a team of instructors and supported my clients in improving their strength, mobility, and confidence through tailored movement.
With over 20 years of experience in the principles of Pilates, my teaching style combines expert knowledge with a warm, encouraging approach that meets clients exactly where they are.
I recently moved back home to Broughty Ferry, and I’m absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to teach classes in the beautiful environment at The Reformer Studio. I’m really looking forward to meeting you all and starting my next chapter!
OUR INSTRUCTORS
COLLEEN - PERTH
My fitness journey began over 25 years ago with martial arts, driven by a passion for movement and staying active. While living in London, I became fully certified in a variety of specialised fitness programmes and have taught in gyms, clubs, schools, and events across the UK, working with clients of all ages and abilities.
As a qualified personal trainer and certified mat and reformer Pilates instructor, I design personalised, inclusive sessions that build strength, flexibility, and overall wellbeing. My background includes cardio, strength training, and core conditioning, supported by a client-focused approach.
After discovering reformer Pilates, I fell in love with its ability to support both strength and mobility — perfectly suiting my busy lifestyle as a mum. I’m passionate about sharing its benefits and helping others feel strong, balanced, and confident in their bodies.
CLAIRE - NEWPORT
I started practicing Pilates in 2016 to help recover from hip surgery and it very quickly became my favourite way to exercise. I loved how strong and flexible it made me feel. At the time, there were not many classes available to attend in the area so I was mostly practicing at home, enjoying making sequences and combining movements I had learnt.
Inspired by a colleague who had her own Pilates business, I decided to start my matwork training through APPI. I completed their foundation, intermediate and advanced matwork courses while studying physiotherapy at university.
Since graduating in 2021, I have been teaching matwork Pilates and always looking for ways to further develop my skills. A recent course in therapeutic Yoga has enhanced my teaching and I love to include elements of this in my classes.
My aim is for you to leave class feeling strong, elegant and refreshed - the best version of you! Pilates truly is my passion and I can’t wait to share that with everyone at The Reformer Studio.
HELEN
I currently work in a trauma informed gender specific service. I work with women on a 1 to 1 basis or in groups with a strong focus on nurture and wellbeing.
I've always led an active lifestyle doing everything from crossfit to climbing but have also experienced periods of injury and pain. Pilates has always allowed me to modify and continue to strengthen during recovery and when I discovered Reformer Pilates i realised it was so accessible that I could strengthen and mobilise my body in a way that I didn't think was possible to achieve. This is where my passion and addiction to Reformer Pilates comes from. I'm interested in the rehab recovery focus of reformer and want to develop in this area combined with my passion of working with people.
Having completed my training with the School of Reform I'm excited to share my understanding and inspire people of all abilities in class to be their best.
AIMEE - APPRENTICE
After a skiing accident left me with serious muscle damage in my left leg I turned to mat pilates to support my recovery - and my love for the practise has never stopped. When I discovered reformer pilates over a year ago, I knew this was the path I wanted to follow.
With six years experience in the beauty industry, I’ve always been passionate about helping people feel amazing inside and out. Pilates has become the perfect way for me to combine love of care and transformation with movement and strength.
I completed my reformer teacher training with Pointe Ahead in Edinburgh, where I became STOTT trained. I'm now an insured apprentice instructor building my teaching hours and preparing for my certification exam. I’m so excited to share my passion for pilates with you and create classes that leave you feeling stronger, more balanced and uplifted.
HELENA
My fitness journey began following a retreat in Ibiza before university in London. I discovered that it improved every aspect of my physical health whilst giving me the energy to face the challenges of life. I have been a personal trainer for over five years so have experience unlocking inner strength, confidence & potential.
I started attending Reformer classes a few years ago and fell in love with the way they made me feel, emphasising control, power & flexibility. I completed my Reformer Teacher Training with Balanced Body in Edinburgh. In my classes, I want to empower you to become your healthiest, strongest, and most resilient self whilst having fun.
SARAH
I’m so excited to be part of The Reformer Studio team.
The gym was never really my thing - I often felt un motivated and unsure of what I was doing. When I discovered Reformer Pilates I instantly connected with the control, precision and empowerment it builds. What started as curiosity soon became a real passion for movement, strength and confidence.
To think I was in The Reformer Studios very first class - and now, after completing my certification, stepping into this role feels like such a full circle moment.
Outside the studio I'm a social butterfly - I love a good pilates class, a cocktail, or a walk with my dog Margot. I can’t wait to welcome you and help you feel strong, connected and confident on the reformer - just as its done for me!
SASHA
Starting as an instructor at the reformer studio feels like a natural extension of who I’ve always been - someone who loves movement, working with and helping others and caring for the mind and body.
As a midwife, I spend my days supporting others through some of the most transformative moments of their lives, and after navigating my own health challenges, I’ve learned just how important it is to prioritise health and wellbeing. Pilates became an essential part of my recovery during that time, helping me rebuild strength, stability and trust in my body.
I grew up dancing, then fell in love with weightlifting and cardio, and now Pilates feels like the perfect blend of strength, mindfulness and longevity.
As I deepen my practice, I am excited to build a stronger, more balanced version of myself but even more excited to help others find confidence, clarity and empowerment in their own Pilates journey.
LUCY
Joining The Reformer Studio as an instructor feels like the perfect way to combine my love of movement and teaching! By day I’m a primary school teacher and by night (or early mornings) you’ll find me on the reformer.
I first discovered reformer pilates about two years ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since. After losing weight and trying all sorts of workouts, gyms often felt intimidating, but The Reformer Studio felt like home. The community, the empowerment, and those “omg I didn’t know that that muscle existed” are why I’m obsessed.
Reformer has this magical ability to help you switch off from the everyday while giving you a killer workout. I love how it leaves you feeling stronger, calmer and more confident - all in just 60 minutes!
I can’t wait to bring my energy enthusiasm and feel good vibes to the studio. If you want a fun, sweaty (and sometimes shaky) class that leaves you smiling, I'm your girl!
RACHAEL
I came across Pilates when a former colleague encouraged me to try her matwork classes. I was delighted to discover that it made me feel strong and capable — and that I was capable of more than I even realised!
I graduated as a physiotherapist in 2017, and I have been lucky enough to include Pilates in my clinical work since 2022. I completed my matwork beginner, intermediate, and advanced-level qualifications with APPI. The reformer has been a fantastic natural progression, and I recently completed my training to be an instructor in London with Balanced Body at Ten Health & Fitness.
I’m so excited to start this new chapter with The Reformer Studio in Perth — I hope to inspire people to feel as I did when I started my Pilates journey!
KAMA - APPRENTICE
I’m a women’s personal trainer, online coach and newly qualified mat pilates instructor currently undergoing my reformer certification. My aim is to help women feel confident and empowered through fitness - in a multitude of forms.
I’ve been weight training for over five years, building a solid foundation of strength. Last year, this journey led me to competitive bodybuilding at age 21 (yes, full glam and tan) while I loved the sport, stepping on stage brought challenges, hormone imbalances and nervous system burnout.
That’s when I discovered pilates. I fell in love with the mind-muscle connection and the use of breath to let movement flow. Pilates gave me control, balance and a way to relax my body and mind. It helped me heal my mindset toward exercise, showing me the beauty of combining strength in the gym with intentional, flowing movement on the mat or reformer.
I’ve been coaching women for a year now, and it’s been such an honour to positively impact their relationships with fitness. As I embark on this new chapter of teaching pilates, I hope to share my story and sin-ire women to move in ways that bring strength, empowerment and tranquility.
